    SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL STAR WATCH

For ten days every year, cute ol’ Park City, Utah transforms into a star-studded paradise. The Sundance Film Festival floods the town with films, parties, fans, and most importantly (for the purposes of this blog post) celebrities.

Looking to run into a celebrity at the Sundance Film Festival? We’ve got your covered with the where and the how. No guarantees, but if you follow the tips below you’ll likely have at least a few Sundance stories to share over the next few weeks.

    Historic Main Street

The epicenter of all things Park City and Sundance is Main Street; take the free trolley from top to bottom (or the bottom to the top), browse galleries, grab a bite and practice your paparazzi skills. #1 tip to getting to Main Street and celeb stalking – don’t drive, you may not have a private driver, but you can hop on the free Park City bus from a remote parking area and let Park City transit drivers fight the masses. The best time to spot your favorite actor? Hard to say exactly, but many evenings are filled with private parties and movie premieres, so we suggest late morning to mid afternoon.

Eccles Center for the Performing Arts

Any regular Sundance attendee will let you in on a little pretty obvious secret – some of the very best movies premiere in the largest venue, which is the Eccles Center located on Kearns Boulevard. This location hosts the most anticipated movies, which not only come with some long time favorite actors, but often a breakthrough star or two. Our tips at this location? The early bird catches the worm. Get your tickets, get into the movie early, and grab a seat near the front of the theater. We hate to drop names, but we’ve literally sat a few seats from Ethan Hawke, Don Johnson, Michael C. Hall, and Patricia Arquette. Even better, from the front you have the best view when they are up on stage to talk about their work.

    Swanky Park City Hotels

When it comes to luxury hotels, Park City is no stranger. We have them; celebrities love them.  While the hotels may be booked, call ahead to see if you can dine at the restaurant or if the bar is open for cocktails and small bites.  Some of our favorite spots? The Montage, Stein Eriksen Lodge, and St. Regis, all at Deer Valley Resort, or the Waldorf Park City at the Canyons Base of Park City Resort. Our number one guy to spot? Robert Redford of course, who is the Chairman of the Sundance Film Festival. Celebrities span generations, and you never know who will show up. Actors starring in the films at Sundance this year? Keep your eyes peeled for Danny Glover, Kristin Stewart, John Krasinski, Selena Gomez, Paul Rudd, Ellen Page, Kathy Bates, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ethan Hawke, Don Cheadle, Danny DeVito, Julianne Moore, Viggo Mortensen, Anna Kendrick, Rachel Weisz, and more.

A few last tips to help you in your quest. First, although most films will be shown several times throughout the festival, often in various locations, most actors come for opening weekend and head out after a few days. Don’t take it personally – they are usually headed off to work on their next big film. Second, there is no red carpet with formal wear and glitz. We wear boot, jeans, sweaters, and puffy jackets – and celebrities do the same. Expect that they will blend into the crowd. Lastly, always leave lots of time to get around town. Late to a movie means you risk missing not only a great film, but the actors sitting down to watch it with you.
